Dissertation note ABSTRACT _ The study area lies between vertical grid 23-31 and horizontal grid 31-41 of one inch topographic map of 93D/13.The area extends covering about 24 square miles. The investigated area can be reached by Heho - Shwenyaung highway and railway. The drainage pattern of the area are centripetal and dendritic pattern.
The Bawsaing _ Heho area is characterised by the rocks of the Molohein Group ( Upper Cambrain), Pindaya Group ( Ordovician), Mibayataung Group ( Silurian) and Plateau Limestone Group(Permo Carboniferous). The regional structure of Bawsaing-Heho area is a double plunging anticline (Myint Lwin Thein, 1972). The study area is located on the western limb of south plunging anticline. Some small fracture and faults occured at the middle and northern part of Kyauktap area.
In our study area, Wunbye and Nan-on Formations of Pindaya Group, Linwe Formation of Mibayataung Group and Plateau Limestone Group are exposed. The Wunbye Formation is well exposed along Kyauktap-Naunglwet range and mainly composed of medium to thick bedded, bluish grey limestone. The buff-colored silstone of Nan-on Formation is narrowly exposed along Bawsaing - Legyaungdaik cart - tract. The Linwe Formattion is well exposed southern part of the Legyaungdaik village. The Plateau Limestone Group is widely distributed in the western portion of the Heho-Bawsaing car road.
Petrographically, Wunbye Formattion can be classified )1) Micritic Limestone (2) Detrial allochthonous and (3) Dolomitic Limestone. The Nan-on silstone show laminations, which chiefly are composed of angular bits of quartz. According to Folks classification of limestone, phacoidal limestone can be named biomicrite.
Bawsaing - Heho area has been konwn as producer of lead in Burma. The barite localities of the investigated area are; NE of Kyauktap village, SE of Legyaungdaik village, SE of Peinnebin village and Kyauktap Kan. The ore minerals recognized in polished section are; (1) Barite, (2) Galena, (3) Azurite and Malachite, (4) Pyrite, (5) Chalcopyrite and (6) Covellite. Barite are restrictedly occur in the Wunbye and Nan-on Formattion. Barite associated with galena occur in the Linwe Formattion of Siliurian age.
Galena can be recongnized by its reflectivity, cleavage and characteristic feature of traingular pits. Azurite and Malachite are found on the surface of barite and silicifired limestone. In the study area, dolomitisation and silicification are mainly occurred.
The Bawsaing area is famous for its richness in mineralization. The main economic and important ore minerals of this thesis area are noted as barite, galena, lead, and decorative stones are of economic interest.
