ABSTRACT _ The study area, Myozo-Kyaukpauk, is situated in Kalaw Township,Shan State (South). Total cooverage area is approximately 60 square kilometers. The straightgraphic units of the study area are Wunbye Formattion (limestones, silstones and dolomites) and Nan-on Formattion (silstones, shales and, limestones) of Pindaya Group, Linwe Formattion (limestones, and calcareous mudstones) and Wabya Formattion (shales, silty shales, marls) of Mibayataung Group. Their age ranges from middle Ordovician to Late Silurian. There are nine lead occurrences in the study area. Myozo lead prospects are characteristized by galena, barite and copper which is occurring in silt patches within burrowed limestones of Wunbye Formation and silty limestones of Nan-on Formation. Lead mineralization in Kyaukpauk prospects hosted in thick-bedded to massive, dolomitic limestone of Wunbye Formation. The ore minerals identified under microscope are galena, sphalerite, pyrite, covellite and anglesite. Types of alteration can be recongnized as silicification and dolomitization. Nature of mineralization occurs as disseminations, fissure fillings. and breccia infills. Therefore, the lead mineralization in the study area is controlled by both lithology and structure . The geochemical results (XRF), mainly consist of Pb, Cu, Zn, Rb, Sr and Ba elements. By the study of geochemical analysis, lead is associated with zinc and copper. According to the mineral assemblages, types of alteration and the nature of mineralization, some characters of Mississippi Valley-Type, the genetic type of deposit may be suggested as Pb-rich sub group of Mississippi Valley-Type(MVT). |
