502 ## - DISSERTATION NOTE
Dissertation note Trade in the Yadanabon Period might state the commercial activities in different regions of the kingdom, between British Burma and Yadanabon Kingdom. It also emphasizes the importance of local and foregin trade and its functions in the kingdom. The British annexation of Lower Burma let King Mindon carry out the series of reform in his kingdom. In that period, trade played a key role for survival. As waterways were mainly used in Konbaung Period, commercial activities were mostly done in the royal city and in towns and villages along the banks of revers. Yenangyaung weas famous for its crude oil, Myingyan for its cotton and Pakhangyi in Pakokku for palm sugar (jaggery) which were exported to British Burma. Cotton became a cash crop in Yadanabon Period. The discussion is also made on the fact how did the self-sufficient economy which carried out in the reigns of early kings transform into commercial economy in Yadanabon Period.
