Dissertation note: Among the eleven monarchs who ruled the Konbaung Dynasty,King Badon and King Mindon were the two most prominent monarchs. There were many reasons why these two monarchs were more prominent than other Konbaung kings.Among the fundamental factors included their longer reigns and their undertakings in administrative, economic, social and religious sectors for the maintenance of sovereignty of the kingdom.King Badom who was the longest reigning monarch of the Konbaung kings, before ascending the throne, had experience in the administration and he had himself participated in the restoration of the kingdom. Therefore, when he ascended the throne, hewas well aware of the weakness and deficiencies prevailed during the reign of his predecessors and so he maade great reforms.Similarly,King Mindon had to ascend the throne at the time when nearly half of the kingdom had already been occupied by the British. He also knew well the weakness and deficiencies of his kingdom as he dealt with the British who were much superior in administration ,economy and military affairs than his kingdom. Therefore,Kinh Mindon also made great reforms in administration and economy of the kingdom. This disseration makes an attempt to evaluate who was more successful than another one in the efforts for the perpetuation of the sovereignty and development of the Kingdom.
