"History of Monywa (1948-1962)" makes efforts to portray the political,economic,social and religious situations during post-independence era.Although Amyint,Badon and Kani being the principal towns of Monywa District in Precolonial period,,Monywa stood as an ordinary village.During colonial era,Monywa emerged as a thriving town in the Sagaing Division.Its location and means of communication favoured Monywa to become an economic centre of the District.However,the civil war after independence greatly affected the socioeconomy of the region.The insurgents such as Communits and People's Volunteer Organization overran Monywa District.After the restroration of law and order,Monywa region reemerged as a thriving economic centre.This disseration traces the repercussion of insurgencies and political movements of agriculture,commerce and industries are also discussed.Exminations are also made on the goverment's efforts for gradual development of public healthcare,education,literature and other social welfare.Monywa District is also well-known for numerous renowned pagodas,learning centres of Buddhist scriptures and emergence of celebrated monks.This Disseration also discusses of celebrated monks for the propagation of Buddhism in Monywa District.
