This disseration ,on the title of "Administration of Justice in Colonial Period (1885-1948)",is written in four chapters:(1) Background History of Ancient Myanmar Legal System,(2)Organization of Courts at Various Levels,(3)Civil CAses and Criminal Cases and (4)Judiciary of Provinces and Hill Tracts.Chapter one deals with ancient Myanmar legal system during the period of Myanmar Kings up to Konbaung dynasty,as far as the sources are avaliable.Chapter two discusses the situations in recent British occupation,resulting in the change of administrative form consequently legal system(usually arbitration)into British legal system (formal litigation).The Courts at various levels established by the British and its legal system are discussed.Chapter thrree deals with the nature of criminal and civil cases and colonial period are discussed.In Chapter four,the subjects discussed are administration of justice specifically prescribed for States and Hill Tracts and traditional customs in comparison with respective state.In addition Chapter four also consists of juvenile trials and the nature of prisons.
