Kayakpadaung is a region which had existed like Poppa since Bagan Period and a town under the administration of a Myo-sa throughout the successive period of Pinya, Sagaing, Inwa, Taungoo, Kyaukpadaung Township was put under provincial adminstration and was governed by Myo-wun, Myo-sa, Myo-ok, Myo-thu-gui, and Ywa-thu-gyi. In the society there were four categories of classes: administrators, Crown Servicemen, A-thi (Commoner), and Kyun (slave). The main livelihood was then that of agriculture, while there also existed the livelihood of toddy palm plantation, iron-work and cutch- preparing. The local people of those days were pious devotees of the Buddhist Sāsanā and the Gaing-ōks and the Gang - htauks in various towns and villages were not only involved in the affairs of the Buddhist Sāsanā, but also made supervision so that no bias or malpractice would take place in administrative affairs, jurisdiction and revenue collection.
