Dissertation note: This dissertation, on the title of "History of Kyaukse in Colonial Period(1886-1948)" is mentioned the development of agriculture in Kyaukse areathroughout history. Once, Kyaukse was known as barn of the Upper Myanmar, for its ample paddy production. This fundamental economicprivilege, getting well in Colonial Period, provided by sound administrationand advanced transport and communication system. In this way, Kyauksebecame one of the prominent districts in Upper Myanmar, among its adjacent places. The export economy prevailed in Kyaukse for its surplus productionon paddy and other cash crops. The majority of the people from Kyaukse area engaged in trade and commerce. The British, however, made a good contribution to laying down the law to use in governing the various levels. As regards anti-British movements, the patriots of Kyaukse took up whatever weapons they could get hold of and resisted when the British forces entered Kyaukse area. The leaders formed political associations for launching campaigns of anti-imperialist movements throughout the Colonial Period.There appeared political activists in Kyaukse District. Among them, the prominent leaders were Thakhin Ba Shwe Gyi. Thakhin Shwe Ôk, Thakhin Tin Shwe and Bo Khin Maung Lay. The Social developments could be seen the outcome of the economic progress.
