It is bounded by latitude 21° 09' 40" N to 21° 15' 00" N and longitude 100° 19' 55" E to 100° 25' 05" E and area coverage is approximately 50 square kilometers and 0.21 square kilometer for detail geological map. The study area lies in apart of Eastern Highlands area of Myanmar. In addition , it is also a part of Eastern Granitoid Belts of Myanmar. The study area is mainly composed of Molohein Group of Cambrian in age and granite and vocanic rocks of late Triassic in age. Iron mineralization is found in reddish brown colored silstone and yellowish grey in colour mudstone of Molohein Group. The mineralization occurs mainly as massive, replacement and fracture fillings. Mineralization is found within the fracture zone and it is related with east-west trending lineaments systems, which are discordant to north-south direction regional structure. According to chemical assay result iron (Fe) is 60.33% - 65.61% copper(Cu) is 21 ppm-36 ppm, lead (Pb) is 59 ppm - 141 ppm and zinc (Zn) is 13 ppm-121 ppm.Ore minerals are magnetite, hematite with minor amount of pyrite. Gangue mineral is quartz. In study area, four types of alterations ard found such as silicification, sericitization, kaolanization and pyritization. The possible age of mineralization may be late Triassic in age. Geochemically, collected 30 soil samples, 19 ore samples from mineralized zone and analyzed by AAS for Fe, Au, Ag, Cu, Pb, Zn and XRF for Mgo, SiO2, CaO, TiO2 ,Cr2O3, MnO, Fe2O3, NiO and CnO. According to the field study and microscopic study, the iron mineralization is considered as igneous related hydrothermal iron deposit because of bladed quartz in mineralization, bercciated quartz, silicified zone are found close to ore mineralization zone; Includes references; CONTENTS __ ABSTRACT ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS CONTENTS LIST OF FIGURES LIST OF TABLES CHAPTER I : INTRODUCTION 1.1 Location, Size and Accessibility 1.2 Physiography and Drainage 1.3 Climate and Vegetation 1.4 Purpose of Study 1.5 Methods of Study 1.5.1 Data Preparation for Field Work 1.5.2 Field Methods 1.5.3 Laboratory Methods 1.6 Previous Works CHAPTER II : REGIONAL GEOLOGY 2.1 Regional Geological Setting 2.2 Regional Stratigraphy of Eastern Shan State 2.3 Regional Geology of Mong Ywang and Surrounding Aea 2.4 Mineral belts of Myanmar 2.5 Regional Structure CHAPTER III : GEOLOGY OF THE STUDY AREA 3.1 Stratigraphy 3.1.1 Molohein Group 3.1.2 Igneous Rocks 3.2 Host Rock 3.4 Structure of the Study Area 3.4.1 Fault 3.4.2 Joint CHAPTER IV : PETROLOGICAL ANALYSIS AND ORE MICROSCOPY OF THE STUDY AREA 4.1 General Statement 4.1.1 Method of Study 4.1.2 Sedimentary Rocks 4.1.3 Igneous Rocks 4.2 Mineralogy 4.3 Ore Texture 4.3.1 Primary Texture 4.3.2 Secondary Texture Resulting From Replacement CHAPTER V : MINERALIZATION AND ALTERATION 5.1 Background History 5.2 Mineralization 5.2.1 Hwe Hpa Area 5.3 Nature of Mineralization 5.4 Mineral Paragenesis 5.5 Alteration 5.6 Ore Control 5.7 Magmatism 5.8 Possible Age of Mineralization CHAPER VI GEOCHEMICAL ASPECTS AND DRILLING 6.1 Geochemical Investigation 6.2 Statistical Treatment of Geochemical Data for Rock Samples 6.3 The Element Distribution in Rock 6.3.1 Distribution of Iron 6.3.2 Distribution of Gold 6.3.3 Distribution of Silver 6.3.4 Distribution of Copper 6.3.5 Distribution of Lead 6.3.6 Distribution of Zinc 6.4 Regression Analysis 6.5 Statistical Treatments of Geochemical Data for Soil Samples 6.6 The Elements Distribution in Soil 6.6.1 Distribution of Iron 6.6.2 Distribution of Gold 6.6.3 Distribution of Silver 6.6.4 Distribution of Copper 6.6.5 Distribution of Lead 6.6.6 Distribution of Zinc 6.7 Regression Analysis 6.8 Statistical Treatments of Geochemical Oxide Data 6.9 The Element Distribution 6.9.1 Distribution of Magnesium Oxide 6.9.2 Distribution of Silicon Dioxide 6.9.3 Distribution of Calcium Oxide 6.9.4 Distribution of Titanium Oxide 6.9.5 Distribution of Chromium Oxide 6.9.6 Distribution of Manganese Oxide 6.9.7 Distribution of Iron Oxide 6.9.8 Distribution of Nickel Oxide 6.9.9 Distribution of Copernicium Oxide 6.10 Regression Analysis 6.11 Drilling Process CHAPTER VII : DISCUSSION ON IRON MINERALIZATION OF THE STUDY AREA 7.1 General Statement 7.1.1 Banded Iron Formation 7.1.2 Skarn Type Iron Deposits 7.1.3 Hydrothermal Iron Deposits 7.2 Some Major Iron Occurrence in Myanmar 7.3 Discussion Possible Genesis on Hwe Hpa Iron Deposit CHAPTER VIII : SUMMARY AND CONCLUSION REFERENCES; Han Naing Zaw; Geology, Geochemistry and iron mineralization of The Hwe-Hpa area, Mong Yawng township,Shan State (East) ER -
