This thesis explores meditation techniques of Theinngu Sayadaw, a well-known meditation teacher in Myanmar. It provides his transformative life Journey, meditation practices, and the criticisms surrounding his teachings. This study focuses on three key meditation practices taught by Theinngu Sayadaw: mindfulness of breathing (Anapanasati), mindfulness of feelings (Vedananupassana) ,and meditation on foulness (Asubha Bhavana)- are examinded in detail, with an emphasis on the specific rules, techniques, and goals of each pratice. The work addresses the criticims of his technique that have arisen around Theinngu meditation, particularly regarding the practices of rapid breathing and rigid posture, and offers a scholarly response to these critiques through an examination of relevant canonical texts. This research aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of Theinngu Sayadaw's contribution to the Buddhist meditation tradition in Myanmar. The goal of this thesis is to help people better understand Theinngu Sayadaw's teachings, their impact on Buddhist meditation, and to encourage more interest in studying these meditation traditions. |
