Dissertation note This Independent Study Project (ISP) explores the concept of happiness with a special reference to the Metta Sutta in Khuddakapaha. People worldwide cherish happiness and seek to achieve it throughout their lives. Thus, this study aims to demonstrate how the Buddhist teaching of Metta has contributed to peace and happiness for all individuals. This research uses the qualitative methodology to analyse the concept of happiness by using primary and secondary sources. Through this approach, the study examines the Buddhist concept of happiness, the types of happiness, and how to apply Metta as a means tp attain it. Tp give a thorough understanding of the idea, this study is divided into three sections: the first section presents the idea of happiness in a Buddhist context: the second section examines the idea of Metta as it is presented in the Metta Sutta: and the third section dives into detail about the valuable strategies for achieving happiness as the development of Loving-kindness. The expected outcome of this study is to demonstrate that happiness is achievable for all people and to provide guidance on how to achieve it. In conclusion, the study reveals that Buddha's teaching guides individuals at different levels, offering the phat to pleace and happiness for those willing to seek it.
