_aThis independent study project focuses on the Kuddaka-Nikaya of the Sutta-Nipata through the Mangala Sutta, as well-known blessings discourse. The Mangala sutta includes 38 blessings, a special way to enhance personality and society. The Buddha claimed that blessing (Mangala) is the path to lasting peace and happiness. Hence, the Buddha used the opportunities to teach the true blessings rather than focusing on superstitions, and he said that individuals can create their own blessings through their actions. Subsequently, the Mangala sutta has the ability to select one's own life direction and control their own destiny. Thu, several scholars approach this verse as useful for enhancing personality and society.
This paper will explore general education ideas and insights from the third verse of the Mangala-Sutta in Theravada Buddhism, which can contribute to living an easy life through moral conduct. Chapter two will discuss general education as a concept of comprehending knowledge that can make progress daily in enhancing personality and society. Subsequently, the outcome of applying general education in art and science can become one's habit. Chapter Three explores the concept of the well-disciplined, which can help one to comprehend the value of human beings and care for their life. Then, in observing moral conduct, one can redevelop oneself and society. In addition, understanding ideas of effective communication with others is a part of general education. Ultimately, the benefit of embedding this verse is a comprehension of general education and moral conduct, which are the foundation for living standards: it means that one cares for others. By implementing two aspects, individuals can accomplish their goals. The outcomes of general education can assist us in achieving a successful life. _bMaster of Arts: _cShan State Buddhist University, _d2025. |
